Outside, Looking In

I caught this woman on a sunny, mild autumn afternoon in Asheville, North Carolina. There's a saying that "pets look like their people," and while I hope that I look a little better than our whiskered studio mascot, I've found an analog to this over the years: "People look like their surroundings."

This moment of vibrant color, strong contrast, and dramatic shadow just clicked with me when I saw it, and I didn't have to make any compositional changes. I firmly believe that if one keeps an open mind and an open eye, there are abundant and fun subjects like this.
