Great Smoky Mountains Symphony

Since moving to Tennessee five years ago, I've become pretty well acquainted with the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, within an hour's drive of our home. Yet I remain intrigued by its extreme contrasts of light and shadow. As the abundant mountain streams rush down the old, mountainous terrain, the deep ravines can get so dark, so moody, and so dramatic. Sprinkle in some peak fall foliage and the last remnants of daylight during a November afternoon and << boom >>, you have yourself one heckuva painting subject.
