I grew up in the upper Midwest, and one of my earliest recollections is of the vast, flat, open expanse of space. If it wasn’t a field filled with soybeans or corn, then it was likely a sprawling strip mall development on the edge of a small town. When I caught this moment on the north side of my current hometown of Knoxville, Tennessee, its panoramic character took me back to my childhood.
