I painted this on location in East Tennessee from the back of my truck. I could not have asked for a more idyllic summer morning. The cotton ball clouds captivated me, and when I found this rural intersection in Loudon County, Tennessee, I briefly flashed back to my youth in southern Wisconsin, where the country roads ran across the open landscape beneath expansive skies just like this.
